Random Note: Totally Bunschoten; The one place in the Netherlands with the most people refusing to marry gay/lesbian-couples

To everyone who isn't dutch or didn't follow the news, there's a lot of political debate at the moment, because over hundred people who make a living by marrying couples (I have no idea how they're called in English), say they would refuse and also do refuse to marry gay or lesbian couples. Now in the Netherlands, gay marriages have been allowed for over 6 years, and when this was found out an investigation was started... What came out? of those 100 people 5 are employed in the villiage I live in (Bunschoten) and I can't imagine a small place like this having more than 5 people for it at all, so if you where gay, you can just forget it, basically. This is totally in synch with the fact that some time ago a priest was fired and forced to move away from here because he'd let slip that he was gay and so on. I don't think I've ever seen a gay couple, either man or woman, around here either... All say halleluya to christianity please...

On an unrelated note and my real reason for making this entry; I might have a fun idea, so I thought I'd just trow it at you. Those who are on DA will probably know the concept of the hundred picture-challange. You have people shout out random words untill you have a lot of them, select hundred and draw a picture/sketch to every one of them.
Now I'm not much of an artist when it comes to drawing and I don't think I'd got further than the first picture, if I got there at all, but I can write. My idea is to have you guys and those on DA shout out random words and write a short drabble or a poem (wichever one I feel like) for every one of those hundred words. It should be a good practice and I'm hoping I'll get around to writing some decent poetry again this way... So I'd say, shout out as many words as you can think up! ^^

Heh it's not so much that I doubt that I'd be able to get a hold of a copy than that I doubt I'd have the time to read it... What is it about?

I'll add it to the list! ^^ (actually, I'll make a list since you're the first to put them there) :P

It's a book by Steve Berry set in the Vatican. Another thriller in the mold of Dan Brown. ^_^ In this one, the plot deals with the Virgin Mary apparitions in Fatima and Medjugorje, and the hero of the book discovers that the Third Secret of Fatima which Pope John Paul II revealed to the world in 2000 was incomplete - the hero Colin Michener searches for the truth of the complete third secret of Fatima and links it to the tenth secret of Medjugorje.

Long story short. The Virgin's complete message to the world says three very important things (in direct contrast to the true stand of the Catholic Church on these issues): first, the calling to a life of service to God is not limited to men - women can also be priests.

Second: the choice of abortion lies with the woman.

Third: Love is love. Man and woman, woman and woman, man and man.

Steve Berry's Catholic Priest hero uncovers all of these, and has an epiphany.

Explosive stuff. ^_-

heh I didn't even get around to Dan Browns stuff yet, can you believe it? I've been yelling about reading them for ages, but I somehow never find the will or time... I have a lot of unread books, yet I never seem to get around to it. I guess that when most of your day exists from trying to read huge english books about all kind of psychologic crab, you crave something light in your free time...

Seems rather interesting though

Most interesting! Especially since the writer is saying that Heaven embraces all kinds of love, be it man and woman, gay, bi, or lesbian. ^_-

P.S. Little trivia for you: "Befanini" is Italian for "The Little Witch". Heh.

Heh cool ^^ I have a character with an Italian last name... Leika Fuoco, wich is Italian for fire. Leika's a lowclass girl, lives alone with her ten year older sister and has a hint of forsight wich, probably due to her quite hard life, never fully came into blossoming, so it's uncontrolable and fague, wich makes her mostly supress it. She's a professional breakdancer at some club after school and has way too much pride, is stubborn and can't resist impulses long (probably something of ADHD, only I think it's mostly due to the way she grew up) and with a huge temper. She's a sweet girl, really, just does a lot of kinda stupid things ;)

I'm totally fawning over her at the moment ;)

Yeah, wiccan, bisexual, rather out of ordinary, but absolutely awesome girl. You're lucky they don't do witch hunting anymore. (I'd protect you, i'd take you over here and hide you somewhere safe)

Haha plus I delight in pointing out all the mistakes and idiotic things that go with christianity, and actually critical in my thinking instead of just believing what people say... Yep, stake for me :P
*hides away behind Rian* You'd go a good way yourself btw sweety, altough I guess you're better at hiding it (or not as annoyed with the stupid people in the villiage (ok city) you live in that you go and put pentagrams, dreamcatchers and fearies on your window just to see if someone will reacht)

Heh I would, but you mind it's a city I love in, we have all sorts of weirdass people (Even those I'm scared off) But I guess I do fit the picture marvelously too. smiles, ah we'll just go and put a spell on them or something. since they think us as witches anyway.

Hmmm good idea *laughs* stupid homophobes, they deserve to be spelled! And hey, I'm a born and bred city-girl too, even though I live in a villiage now... I love those weird-ass city-people ;)In a few years, I'll make sure to be back in the city, Amersfoort, if I have any say in the matter ^^

Hee, it's so cool you're doing the drabble challenge. Sorry I'm too late to contribute, but I look forward to reading your stuff. :3

The gay marriage thing sucks and blows. But when you say it's technically legal in Holland, are you sure it's actual marriage not just civil unions? 'Cause that's what all the rage has been about lately. If you mean actual marriages, then that's actually kind of awesome, even if certain places are depressingly backwards. We're gradually moving towards gay marriage here too (we're the first country where civil unions were made legal, I think, and we have no anti-gay military protocols either). It just sucks that it takes so much time. :[

haha no, actual marriage is very much legal here. It's more that it's so typical for the crazy villiage I live in really... I mean, it's not that I'd want to marry here anyway, but it's just very typical.
I mean, come on, this must be just about the only place in the Netherlands where people still wear traditional clothing on a daily basis XD people here are crazy and dumb, for the most part... And than I mean litterally dumb, as in, bordering on mentally retarded *-)
