Random Note: Dancing really is an addiction.
So... Months after it's finished, here are the mandatory pictures of the first skirt I made. I got it done back in december but I wasn't quite happy with the way it flowed so I went back and fixed it. Now it's good for normal wear! Espeacially since I found the shirt and necklace to go with it. I'm pretty happy with it all! :D
First of all; me, in the skirt

Aaaand a close-up of the skirt. Please ignore the ugly belly, I had to pull the skirt down and the shirt up and away to take this.

There. Now I'm allowed to geek out over my current project! ;)
I'm making these really wide three quarter pants. I have relatively dark, subtle jeans fabric (pretty thin as well) and I'm combining it with bright pink threat and buttons. The picture in the magazine isn't in a style I'd wear, but I think that the fabric and my use of threat will make all the difference and I'm really excited about it. With the right shoes and shirt it might be something I could wear when I need to be neat, but with my all stars and other shirts, it'll be pretty cool but still kind of... different?
The magazine pic;

Aaand a detail of the only thing I've actually done so far (but I think looks seriously awesome anyway :P) the pockets.

Inbetween I made another skirt, one specifically made for balfolk, but I have yet to take a good picture of it. It's lovely though, has exactly the effect I wanted it to have. It's funny to see how I've been looking at clothing, fabric, sewing and that kind of thing quite differently from before. Also, I'm starting to understand patterns, how they work, etc. better. That's really important to me, because I eventually want to work to designing my own stuff.
So... What do you guys think? ^___^

I'm actually amazed with how much faster I've become in such a short time. My sewing instructor said I pick up on it extremely quickly :D
Oooh you'll post pics of it, right? (*is a hypocrit and knows it*)

I've been doing a lot of sewing myself, mostly for my doll. I love how they've been turning out! ♥
And I misssssss you. How have you been doing?

Oooh cool! Will we get (more) pictures? I did see the ones you took. The doll thing everyone is on about isn't really my thing (that and I really don't have 200 dollar stashed away somewhere to buy one anyway). I do look at everyone elses pictures though.
Miss you tooooo! *cuddles* and I've been pretty stressy lately over all, though I've been making a conscious effort to calm down and relax the last week. Has been helping some. Otherwise it's just the motions...
Free time is being sucked up more and more by balfolk (traditional folk dancing but with a modern twist, it's amazingly fun) and sewing... And of course fanfic and LJ. They're fun things though!
I love sewing, it's relaxing and a lot of fun. I'm able to be very creative and work with my hands, and you get results quite fast. It's also actually something I'm good at, which is a lot of fun. Everyone in my family is astonished with how neat I work. I'm just kind of like... well, that's because I can.
Dancing is really wonderful as well. Just so much fun and relaxing. Both sewing and dancing are so wonderfully different from my studies, it's wonderful! :D
So what about you?
(no subject)
I know how that is. I haven't been around much either due to school work, scheduling classes, work, and RL stuff. So I totally understand how that is. And I'm glad that you have something that's helping you to destress. :)
There is an awesome sense of accomplishment you have when you finish a sewing project. :) I'm actually going to be working on some pajama pants tonight for Noah, hopefully!
♥ *glomp*

And Oh my god. You look like my cousins. @_@

I think I look kinda woozy and weird in the picture, but that might just be me and besides, pictures are never kind to me. Ah well, was the best picture out of the bunch and I didn't feel like trying even more than I already did.

ever thought of having your own boutique with your own design?
(no subject)
Heh not so much, I just want to design for myself and possibly for close friends and stuff, not comercially. I'm aiming to be a kids psychologist :P It is a wonderful hobby though! :D
(On the other hand... My sewing instructor actually used to be a child psychologist as well, than quit her job and started giving sewing classes, so you never know! ;))
